Keratin Training
On average, most clinic classrooms charge anywhere between $200-$400 to perform this service (length and density can increase the cost). So, there are a lot of obvious financial benefits to providing Keratin Complex services as a licensed professional.
- At USTA, we are all about return on investment for our students. Adding Keratin Complex training to our cosmetology curriculum is an ADVANCED service and great revenue generator and skill that can set you apart from your competition. Keratin is a protein and the major component in hair, skin and nails; in fact, hair is mainly comprised of keratin-associated proteins. Keratin acts both as an external protective protein in the cuticle (the outer layers of a hair strand) and as an internal structural protein in the cortex (the inner core of the hair that helps determine its strength).
- A Keratin Complex smoothing treatment can give client the benefit of soft, silky, shiny, and smooth hair that lasts from 6 weeks up to 5 months. Treatments can eliminate frizz, protect hair from humidity, strengthen the hair shaft, reduce texture, look-in color services, add shine, and increase styling manageability. Keratin depletes when hair is damaged physically, chemically and/or from environmental factors, such as the sun. This keratin loss exposes the hair’s cortex, making it susceptible to additional damage, and causes porous spots to develop—like potholes in a road. Replenishing lost keratin helps correct porosity and smooth the hair’s surface. It restores strength and elasticity—giving the hair a more youthful, healthy appearance. What client is not going to love that!
