We desire all of our clients receive the best services possible either from our massage therapy or aesthetics teams. When receiving treatment from a massage or an aesthetics therapist, clear communication — both verbal and non-verbal — is key to getting the effective experience you are seeking. Your communication begins before you begin relaxing at the table. These tips will help you receive the best service and create a wonderful relationship with your therapist.
Tips for Clear Communication with your Therapist
Pre-Appointment – Confirm all the details of the spa, such as the address and parking as well as the time slotted for your appointment; this way you are not feeling rushed before or after your appointment. Make sure your drink plenty of water at least 24 hours before the appointment so your skin and muscles are hydrated.
During the Appointment – Mention any recent illnesses, injuries, previous surgeries, bumps, cuts or herpes outbreaks. This will help the therapist handle you with care. Feel free to let the therapist know how previous treatments have gone for you or what you expect to gain from the service. If they ask you, “How are you feeling?” be as specific as possible with your answers so they can address any concerns. Answers like “Fine.” or “I feel bad.” aren’t very helpful to your therapist.
Immediately following the Service – Drink plenty of water and let your therapist know what you thought of the service, honestly. If you are ready, book a follow-up appointment and create a long term relationship with your therapist.
Post Appointment – In order to receive the true benefits from massage and facials you need to feel comfortable and relaxed. This can truly happen when you develop a sense of trust and understanding with your therapist. Be honest and direct, truly listen, choose your words wisely, and remember to give details when sharing information about how you feel so your therapist is never guessing.
Your face and/or body will be grateful along with your mind because there will be no guesses when you are receiving your services, should you follow these tips.
