Keep Glow on Your Skin this Fall

Posted on: October 13th, 2017

Humidity, temperature, wind, and sun can have a dramatic effect on the skin all over your body. When you are from Illinois, you are no stranger to extreme weather changes – sometimes in the same day. We have seen the sun, wind, hail, sleet and snow in a 12-hour period. Here are some tips to keep in mind.

tips to maintain glowing skin during fall into winter

Moisturize Skin Daily – Low humidity, heated air and wind can cause further drying of your skin. Avoid long soaks in the tub, don’t let the water get too hot and use a moisturizing soap. Make sure your put plenty of lotion on your skin, feet and face at least once a day.

Wash your face – Use a gentle, non-abrasive cleanser that does not contain alcohol. Wet your face with lukewarm water and use your fingertips in a circular motion to apply cleanser. Using a washcloth, mesh sponge, or anything other than your fingertips can irritate your skin. Resist the temptation to scrub your skin because scrubbing irritates the skin. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry with a soft towel. Be gentle when applying any cream around your eyes so you do not pull too hard on this delicate skin. Apply cream to face and neck.

As always stay hydrated – By drinking plenty of fluids your skin will stay moist longer and avoid wrinkles. Drink minimum of 8 glasses of water daily and try to drink a glass before each meal to help the digestion as this will also help as there is less activity outdoors.

The sun not only bares down on you the same all year long but now you can get reflected light from the ground if there is snow or ice.  So be sure to protect your skin well before leaving your home. Remember SPF above 30 also prevents signs of aging.
