Benefits of a Back Facial

Posted on: September 28th, 2017

You may have treated your face to a facial before – but how about your back?  Many people suffer from acne on their back and most do not know what to do to treat this hard to reach area. It may be a good idea to have one before a special event where you will be showing your back in a plunging dress. It’s common to know the benefits of a regular facial, but your may not be aware that there are similar benefits for treating your back to get taken care of.

Benefits of a back facial

Get rid of back acne – A cleansing treatment for the back can help clear-out clogged pore by exfoliation, toning, and nourishment. It is a way of exfoliating an area that you cannot get to on your own. Both men and women enjoy back facial to combat acne. A back facial is good even if you do not suffer from back acne, it will exfoliate the dead skin and moisturize. This facial follows the same steps as a traditional facial. The back is first cleansed and exfoliated deeply. The second step removes impurities and imperfection from beneath the skins surface. Then a mask is applied. The final step involves moisturizing the back to hydrate with a light massaging.

Ease tension to back muscles. Like other facials, having a back facial is relaxing. Because the treatment works directly on your back, your muscles will feel tension releasing. Areas like your neck, shoulders, and mid-section of your back, will benefit from the treatment’s massaging motions.

Heal dry skin on the back. Added nutrients from the treatment can help heal any cracked, dry, and itching skin on the back. Treatment usually include essential oils that moisturize and softens your skin.

A back facial may be used in an overall wellness regime. One month have a regular facial the next work on the back. This will reduce acne and make you look and feel great not to mention the benefits of a little time to truly relax and unwind. It is great for acne, skin bumps and pustules as well as back acne, pimples and zits that arise from exercise, eating the wrong foods or just about any other condition. The overall result will leave your back feeling smooth and looking clear so that you can confidently wear backless tops, swimsuits, and low-cut back garments. continual care and treatment for your back will help diminish blemishes, scars, and dark spots.

Differences between Chair and Table Massages

Posted on: September 21st, 2017

Chair and table massages have their advantages and areas where they are more effective and useful than the other but there are differences. A table massage is generally good for a full body treatment, complete relaxation and de-stressing, allowing the therapist to work through all areas and muscle groups. A chair massage is good for addressing specific conditions related to back area, arms, shoulders and neck,

working in shorter sessions and being less time constraining than a table massage.

Differences between chair and table massages

Benefits – Chair massages focus primarily on relaxing tense muscles in the shoulders and back, while providing a brief relaxation and boost of energy to deal with the rest of the day. Table massages is to provide the entire body with a full and in depth relaxation while addressing tensions and chronic problems.

Areas Focused – When receiving a chair massage it is primarily focusing on the back, shoulders, neck and arms . The seated position allows for easy and effective access to these areas. Seated massage is not effective for a comfortable massage of the legs, feet, hips and chest due to the position the client sits in. During a table massage, the whole body is treated. The therapist has easily access to all muscle groups, and can address the tensions and soreness effectively.

Techniques – Due to the nature of seated massages where the client is fully clothed, kneading

and pressure are the two techniques used most often, combined with stretching and tapping. Due to the clothing it is not easy to work on an entire muscle at once. Table massages can use a wide number of techniques depending on which method is used during a session. Long soft strokes, deep kneading, pressure, rubbing and stretching are the techniques most commonly used. During a table massage the therapist can easily work on an entire muscle at once with long deep strokes, or work on isolated spots as she pleases.

Location and Time – Chair massages are very flexible in regards to locations and can be done practically everywhere and can last from 10 minutes to 40 minutes, although typical length is 15-20 minutes. This allows the therapist to effectively address the issues in the back area. A table massage usually takes place in a clinic, spa or at the client’s location. Ideal table massages typically lasts one to one and a half hours, though some offer shorter session specifically aimed at one area of the body.

2017 Fall Makeup Trends

Posted on: September 17th, 2017

One week until fall is officially here, which means let’s talk fall makeup trends for 2017. There are some gorgeous new trends for lips, cheeks and eyes that you don’t want to miss!

Fall Makeup Trends for 2017

  1. The two toned lips – This looks best with a stain, for that worn-for-a-while, more natural finish. Most of the trend is being seen with the lighter lip on top and darker on the bottom.

2. Feathery Lashes – Full, false lashes on your top lash line will make your eyes appear larger and more awake. Keep the rest of your makeup palette neutral for a look that’s modern.

3. The brown/nude lip – Like many other looks this fall, yes the 90’s are definitely back with this one! That means shades of chestnut brown are a must-have for lips this fall.

4. Wishbone winged eye liner – You’ll want to cat eye line the length of the upper lid before whipping out.

5. The jewel-toned smokey eye – Make sure you go with a blocky look applying the jewel tones, and if you really want to be in trend, go with a sapphire blue!

6. The bold/highlighted cheek – Subtle blush is a year-round must, but the fall season on the cheeks is to look as though it’s a little cold outside! Add an extra layer of blush to your cheeks in the same color they turn when it’s chilly outside.

7. Dramatic lower lashes – You will definitely want to apply a waterproof and smudge proof mascara when going for this look especially since you will be applying quite a bit to achieve the dramatic look.

8. Bold Lips and Cheeks – Make sure you go subtle on the eyes if you are living it up on the lips and cheeks, especially with the darker browns on the lips.

The Mind/Body Connection

Posted on: September 7th, 2017

mind/body connectionThe mind/body connection is so important when it comes to managing a balanced life. This means that our thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and attitudes can positively or negatively affect our biological functioning. In other words, our minds can affect how healthy our bodies are! On the other hand, what we do with our physical body (what we eat, how much we exercise, even our posture) can impact our mental state either positively or negatively. This results in a complex interrelationship between our minds and bodies.

According to Dr. James Gordon (founder of the Center for Mind-Body Medicine) “The brain and peripheral nervous system, the endocrine and immune systems, and indeed, all the organs of our body and all the emotional responses we have, share a common chemical language and are constantly communicating with one another.”

Here are some ways you can have a strong mind/body connection:

  1. Mediation
  2. Prayer
  3. Creative Arts
  4. Yoga
  5. Relaxation
  6. Support Groups
  7. Eat healthy
  8. Daily exercise
  9. Get enough sleep
  10. Laugh

Ways like meditation brings us home to the peace of present moment awareness and gives us an experience of  relaxation that eliminates fatigue and long-standing stresses. When you calm your mind, you can connect to your body. In return, taking care of your body can help feel your best from the outside in. Exercise not only helps keep the body young, but it also keeps the mind vital and promotes emotional wellbeing.
